AT&T Chief Given New Responsibilities

In a management shift, the AT&T Corporation will give its chief executive, C. Michael Armstrong, more responsibilities in the day-to-day operations of Tele-Communications Inc. following its acquisition. Leo Hindery, president of TCI, the No. 2 cable-television company, will now report to Mr. Armstrong. Previously, he was to report to John Zeglis, the AT&T president. AT&T plans to complete its $59.4 billion purchase of TCI, which will help it get into the local phone market, by April.
