Infinity Credit Line

The Infinity Broadcasting Corporation said yesterday that it had raised its credit line for acquisitions by an additional $150 million. The new agreement will also allow Infinity, a New York-based media holding company, to repurchase up to $50 million of its common stock. Infinity Broadcasting currently owns 23 radio stations and has three acquisitions pending.

CABLEVISION REVAMPS DEAL FOR SUTTON CAPITAL

The Cablevision Systems Corporation, the nation's fifth-largest cable television operator, said yesterday that it had reached an agreement to acquire Sutton Capital Associates Inc. for a lower price. Cablevision, based in Woodbury, L.I., will pay about $423.5 million for three cable systems in New Jersey and Massachusetts -- $40 million less than originally announced. The change was made in response to limits imposed by the Government on cable rates, Cablevision said. The largest of the three systems that Cablevision is acquiring, Monmouth Cablevision Associates, serves 31 communities in New Jersey.

G.M. BUYS STAKE IN APPLIED CERAMICS

The General Motors Corporation has purchased an equity interest in Applied Ceramics Inc., a high-technology ceramics company in Atlanta that will supply it with ceramic substrates for emission devices starting in early 1995. The size of the equity stake and the purchase price were not disclosed.

Shares of Cheyenne Software Inc. slid yesterday after an analyst raised concerns about Cheyenne's excess inventory. Shares of Cheyenne fell $2.625, to $17.25, on the American Stock Exchange. Several analysts and traders said Terry Quinn, an analyst with Furman Selz Inc., had made his comments in the morning. His office said Mr. Quinn and the firm did not plan to comment on the report.

KANSAS CITY POWER TO TAKE CHARGES FOR RETIREES

General Magic Inc., a software company whose investors include Apple Computer Inc., the AT&T Corporation, the Matsushita Electric Industrial Company and Motorola Inc., has postponed its initial public stock offering for several months, The San Francisco Chronicle reported yesterday. General Magic, based in Mountain View, Calif., had planned to raise $36 million to $45 million by selling three million shares this month, the newspaper said. The company was said to have decided to postpone the offering because it was behind schedule finishing its software.

I.B.M. TO BUILD NEXGEN'S CLONE OF PENTIUM CHIP

Nexgen Microsystems Inc. said yesterday that I.B.M. would build and sell its clone of the popular Pentium microprocessor. The contract gives I.B.M.'s microprocessor division the right to build a microprocessor that will perform the computing functions of the Intel Corporation's Pentium chip. Nexgen, based in Milpitas, Calif., said I.B.M. would also make and sell its design of the Nx587 floating point coprocessor, which speeds the mathematical computing functions of personal computers.

CATERPILLAR DOUBLES DIVIDEND AND PROPOSES STOCK SPLIT

Buoyed by expectations for continued strength in the heavy equipment market, Caterpillar Inc. doubled its common stock dividend yesterday and recommended a 2-for-1 stock split. The company's board raised the quarterly dividend to 30 cents a share on a pre-split basis, from 15 cents, payable on Aug. 20 to shareholders as of July 20. It also recommended the stock split, which will be considered at a special shareholders meeting on Aug. 5. Caterpillar's quarterly dividend has fluctuated in the last decade from 37.5 cents to as little as 12.5 cents, before it was set at 15 cents on Feb. 20, 1992. Shares of Caterpillar, which is based in Peoria, Ill., fell $1.625 yesterday, to $104.375, on the New York Stock Exchange.
